PSG wins FIFA Intercontinental Cup in dramatic tiebreaker

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Brazil’s Flamengo 2–1 in a tiebreaker after a tense final in Qatar. PSG goalkeeper Matvei Safonov was the hero, saving four penalties.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored the opening goal, and after VAR-awarded penalty, Jorginho equalized for Flamengo. PSG’s backup goalkeeper Safonov’s performance was decisive, despite two missed penalties from PSG players.

PSG midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery praised the team’s effort, and coach Luis Enrique highlighted PSG’s remarkable achievement in 2025, winning six trophies including UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France, UEFA Super Cup, Trophée des Champions, and FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
