Discussion on Ongoing Flood Situation in Two Districts Held at Advisory Council

PNN Desk | Dhaka, July 10, 2025: The recent flooding and waterlogging in Feni and Noakhali districts, caused by heavy rainfall, were discussed in a meeting of the Advisory Council held today (Thursday).

During the meeting, advisers from the relevant ministries shared their observations, proposed actions, and responsibilities regarding the flood situation and the responses taken so far.

Key points discussed included:
🔹 Finalization of the designs for the Musapur Regulator and Bamni Closure,
🔹 Finalization of the permanent embankment construction project in Feni, and
🔹 The need to free canals and drainage systems in Noakhali to improve water flow.

In addition, the Council was informed that repairs of damaged embankments, riverbank protection, and restoration of water control infrastructure are already underway in both districts, supported by World Bank funding.

The meeting also included a comprehensive review of the relief and rehabilitation efforts undertaken so far by the Ministry of Disaster Management and local administrations in response to the ongoing flood and waterlogging situation in both districts.
