Salahuddin Ahmed, a standing committee member of the BNP, announced that the July uprising will be given constitutional recognition to ensure its legitimacy is never questioned by any future government. He made this statement as the chief guest at a discussion titled 'The Day the Uprising Changed Course,' organized by the Bangladesh Nationalist Students' Front (Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal) at the TSC auditorium of Dhaka University on Tuesday afternoon.

Salahuddin Ahmed stated, "The July student mass uprising will be accorded due state and constitutional recognition." He informed that its detailed description will be included in the Fourth Schedule of the Constitution. Concurrently, the constitutional legitimacy of the currently formed interim government will also be incorporated there. He confirmed that the BNP's position on the July declaration was submitted in February, and a revised version was recently submitted, aiming to avoid any confusion on the matter.

During the discussion, Salahuddin Ahmed demanded justice for the Awami fascist government and its accomplices. He asserted, "Everyone must remain united against Awami fascism. The Awami League, as a political party, must be brought to justice. He demanded that all fascist Hasina's ministers, MPs, and those accused of crimes against humanity be brought under trial."

However, regarding those not accused of crimes against humanity, Salahuddin Ahmed suggested that decisions be made through the formation of a National Reconciliation body. He said, "If thousands, thousands, millions of trials are to be held, then the nation will always remain in a state of revenge and division. Therefore, peace must be established through National Reconciliation."

He also criticized those attempting to create divisions among democratic forces through various slogans, commenting that they welcome the arrival of fascism. Expressing hope for maintaining the anti-fascist unity, he believes that this unity will lead the nation forward.

Rakibul Islam, President of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, presided over the event, and Rakibul Islam, BNP's Student Affairs Secretary, was present as a special guest. Leaders from various student and socio-cultural organizations active at Dhaka University, including the Student Union, Biplobi Chhatra Moitree, Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, Bangladesh Gonotantrik Chhatra Sangsad, Khelafat Chhatra Majlish, Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh, Chhatra Jamiat Bangladesh, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, Chhatra Federation, Gonotantrik Chhatra Council, Chhatra Andolan NDM, and Pahari Chhatra Parishad, delivered speeches.

The speakers alleged that attempts are being made to destroy the unity of July, and a particular political party is trying to snatch away the achievements of July. They also demanded justice for the perpetrators of genocide in 1971 and 2024.
