Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has alleged that the ruling party is trying to declare the July Charter and the referendum illegal by using the court. He said that if the BNP follows the path of past governments, it will have to bear responsibility for it.
He made these remarks at an iftar gathering organized by the Ulama Division of Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Metropolitan South in the capital on Thursday.
Golam Parwar said the youth of the country are now aware and vigilant, and therefore any conspiracy to destroy the achievements of July will not succeed.
He claimed that various information about alleged manipulation in the recent election results is gradually coming to light.
He also said remarks made by former adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan suggest that certain domestic and foreign forces played a role in influencing the election results. He stressed that those involved in the process should be clearly identified before the nation.
At the event, Nurul Islam Bulbul, Amir of Jamaat’s Dhaka Metropolitan South and a Member of Parliament, said the participation of religious scholars in the leadership of the country is essential. He called upon Islamic scholars to play a more responsible role in society and state affairs.
