Alleged Rape of Teenager in Graveyard: 65-Year-Old Man Arrested in Chandpur

Police have arrested a 65-year-old man named Golap Rahman in Chandpur's Shahrasti Upazila for the alleged forceful rape of a 14-year-old girl in a family graveyard. He was arrested on Wednesday (October 8) night from the Shibpur area of the Upazila.

According to police and local sources, last Saturday (October 4) evening, the teenager was returning home from a shop. At that time, 65-year-old Golap Rahman allegedly forcibly dragged her to a local family graveyard and raped her.

The victim returned home and informed her mother of the incident. The mother then notified the local residents. The locals initially tried to resolve the matter but were unsuccessful. Following this, the girl's mother, Majuda Begum, filed a rape complaint at the Shahrasti Police Station.

Immediately after receiving the complaint, the Shahrasti Police quickly conducted an operation and arrested the accused, Golap Rahman. A rape case was filed against him on Wednesday (October 8) night.

Shahrasti Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Bashar confirmed the incident, stating, "As soon as we received the complaint, we took swift action and arrested the accused. A case has been filed against him on charges of rape." It is also known that the arrested Golap Rahman had several prior allegations of this nature against him.
