Spain’s World Cup-winning forward Ferran Torres has left Barcelona and joined French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The 26-year-old star has signed a contract with the current European champions that will keep him at the club until 2031.

PSG are reportedly paying around €50 million to sign Torres. The French club has strengthened its attack by bringing in the forward, who has been in excellent form recently.

Torres played a key role in Spain’s World Cup triumph last month. He scored the decisive goal against Argentina in extra time, securing victory for Spain. The result gave the country its second men’s World Cup title.

Torres had also enjoyed an outstanding season with Barcelona before the World Cup. He scored 21 goals and provided three assists in 49 matches across all competitions. Barcelona won the La Liga title with the help of his performances.

At PSG, Torres will once again work under former Barcelona player and coach Luis Enrique. Torres made his debut for the Spanish national team under Enrique when the latter was serving as Spain’s head coach.

PSG’s attack is undergoing significant changes this summer. After signing Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco, the club has now added the Spanish forward to its squad.

PSG’s recruitment plans are continuing even after winning the Champions League for the last two seasons. On Wednesday, the French club also won the UEFA Super Cup by defeating Aston Villa 2-1.

Before joining Barcelona in 2022, Torres played for English club Manchester City. His record for the Spanish national team is also impressive—he has scored 25 goals in 65 appearances.

However, Torres’ arrival at PSG will also increase competition within the club’s attacking lineup. Liverpool are reportedly interested in French forward Bradley Barcola. As a result, further changes to PSG’s attacking department cannot be ruled out during the current transfer window.
