Viral Video Involving Jamaat MP: Claim of Second Marriage Emerges After AI Controversy

A video circulating on social media involving Gazi Nazrul Islam, Member of Parliament from Satkhira-4 (Shyamnagar-Kaliganj partially) constituency and leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has created fresh discussions. Although various claims and counterclaims emerged regarding the authenticity of the video after it went viral, local leaders of the party later claimed that the young woman seen in the video is the MP’s second wife.

On Tuesday (July 21) morning, Satkhira district Jamaat Secretary and party media department leader Maulana Azizur Rahman told journalists that the video had come to their attention. According to him, Gazi Nazrul Islam informed party leaders that the woman seen in the video is his second wife and that the marriage took place with the consent of his first wife.

Earlier, after the video spread on social media, a platform associated with Satkhira Jamaat’s media cell, ‘Crime Barta’, claimed that the video had been created using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. However, the issue took a new turn after additional videos recorded from the same location surfaced later.

Since Monday (July 20) night, videos and CCTV footage circulating on Facebook and other social media platforms showed Gazi Nazrul Islam inside a room with a young woman. In different parts of the footage, he was seen talking on a mobile phone and also appearing close to the woman. These visuals spread widely on social media.

Maulana Azizur Rahman said the party is investigating how the video came into public view. He said the matter is being examined internally by the party. However, he could not provide any specific date regarding the second marriage. He claimed that the marriage took place some time ago.

Meanwhile, discussions are also ongoing on social media regarding the age of the young woman seen in the video. According to a biodata obtained by the reporter, her current age is around 18 years and two months based on the mentioned date of birth. The biodata also states that she identified herself as unmarried and appeared in the 2026 SSC examination from the science group.

However, no statement has been received from the woman concerned. Attempts to contact her through her mobile phone and WhatsApp number were unsuccessful as both were found switched off.

So far, Gazi Nazrul Islam has not made any public statement personally regarding the incident. Discussions continue regarding the source of the video, the reason behind its circulation, and other related issues.
