Police have arrested a man in connection with the discovery of two burned bodies at an abandoned municipal community center in Savar, Dhaka. The arrested individual has been identified as Masihur Rahman Khan Samrat, also known as ‘Psycho Samrat.’ He is 40 years old. Police reported that he is a resident of Bank Colony in Savar and is the son of the deceased, Salam.

According to police sources, at around 1:30 PM last Sunday, the national emergency service number 999 received a call reporting two bodies at the abandoned municipal community center near Savar Model Police Station. Upon arriving at the scene, police recovered the two burned bodies from a room on the second floor of the building.

Dhaka District Police Additional Superintendent (Crime, OPS, and Traffic North) Arafatul Islam said that after the recovery of the bodies, the police reviewed CCTV footage installed around the building and identified Samrat as a suspect. He was arrested and, during interrogation, confessed to being involved in multiple murders at the location.

Police claimed that over the past six months, a total of six bodies have been recovered from the building and its surrounding areas, with separate cases filed for each incident. Samrat has been presented in court in connection with the most recent case. Authorities are investigating the motive and further details of the incident. They stated that the matter will become clearer after the autopsy reports are obtained.

According to sources at Savar Model Police Station, previously on July 4 last year, the body of 75-year-old Asma Begum was recovered from behind a tea shop near Savar Model Mosque. On August 29 of the same year, a partially decomposed male body with a scarf tied around his neck and hands bound was found in a room on the second floor of the abandoned community center. Later, on October 11, another unidentified female body was recovered from the same building.

Additionally, on December 19, a partially decomposed burned body of an unidentified male was recovered from the building’s second floor. Most recently, last Sunday, two more burned bodies—a young man and a teenage girl—were discovered at the same location.

Police are treating these incidents with utmost seriousness. Investigations are being expanded based on the suspect’s confessions and other evidence, according to law enforcement authorities.
