Police recovered the bodies of two men, Zakir Hossain and Mizanur Rahman, from a private car parked in the parking area of Dr. Sirajul Islam Medical College in Mouchak, Dhaka. The bodies were discovered on Monday (August 11) around 11 a.m.
According to police and college authorities, a white car entered the parking lot early Sunday morning and remained there. On Monday morning, a security guard checked the vehicle and saw two individuals inside. Initially, they appeared to be sleeping, but when they did not respond to calls, suspicion arose. The police were then informed.
Relatives of Zakir, who came to collect the bodies from Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue, claimed that two years ago Zakir had paid 2.5 million taka to a travel agency for a trip to the USA, but the promise was not fulfilled and the money was never returned. Zakir was supposed to get the money back on August 10. The next day, the bodies of Zakir and his friend were found.
Masud Alam, Deputy Commissioner of Ramna Zone, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said the owner of the car has been identified. He came to the hospital early that morning to visit a patient relative but left afterward, while the driver and his companion stayed in the car. To determine whether this was a murder or something else, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and other expert teams are investigating. The bodies have been sent for autopsy and CCTV footage is being analyzed.
Police stated that the exact cause of death will be known after the investigation is completed.
