Three people have been arrested in connection with the killing of RAB Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) Motaleb Hossain Bhuiya during an attack by criminals in Jangal Salimpur, Sitakunda upazila, Chittagong.
On Wednesday night, the RAB officer filed a murder case at Sitakunda police station. The case names 29 people, including Yasin, head of the Yasin gang in Alinagar, Jangal Salimpur, and his associate Nurul Haq Bhandari, along with approximately 200 unidentified individuals.
The police reported that among the accused, Mohammad Yunus and Zahid Hasan were arrested, and another person named Arif Hossain was also taken into custody. All three arrested have been sent to jail through the court. This information was confirmed by Sitakunda police station OC Mohinul Islam.
The OC stated that operations were conducted across different locations in Jangal Salimpur immediately after filing the case to arrest these three individuals. The main accused, Mohammad Yasin, has four previous cases, and Nurul Haq Bhandari has seven. Police operations are ongoing to apprehend the rest involved.
It is noteworthy that on Monday at 4 PM, during a RAB operation in Jangal Salimpur, Motaleb Hossain Bhuiya was killed in an unexpected attack by criminals. The attackers took three RAB members and one local person hostage to a newly constructed shop about three kilometers away in Alinagar and beat them. During this, four pistols belonging to RAB were seized. Later, the Faujdarhat police rescued four injured individuals at the scene and recovered the four pistols. This incident has caused serious concern about law and order in the area.
