Tejgaon College Student Protest Ends, Traffic Restored at Farmgate

Students of Tejgaon College ended their protest on the roads of Farmgate, Dhaka, on Thursday (December 11), restoring traffic in the area. After nearly two and a half hours of blockade, the students marched back to their college campus around 12:45 PM.
According to internal sources, the students had presented an eight-point demand, including the expulsion and rapid arrest of student party leaders involved in the murder of Saqibul Hasan Rana, along with ensuring exemplary punishment. They stated that their protest would continue until a proper investigation and a safe campus environment were ensured.
The morning blockade caused severe traffic congestion, inconveniencing commuters.
The student demands included:

  • Politics-free campus: Ban all political activities in the campus.

  • Fair investigation and case: Ensure an impartial investigation including the names of those responsible for Saqib’s murder.

  • Expulsion of culprits: Arrest and punish those involved in the murder.

  • Removal of hall superintendent: Remove the current hall superintendent and appoint a neutral one.

  • Filing a case through the principal: File cases naming those involved.

  • Compensation to family: Provide adequate financial compensation to Saqib’s family.

  • Removal of illegal students: Evict all unauthorized students from hostels.
