Teenage Girl Raped in Gazipur After Job Promise; ATM Booth Security Guard Absconding

GAZIPUR, BANGLADESH – A 14-year-old girl was reportedly raped in Sreepur Upazila, Gazipur, after being lured with a job offer. The incident occurred last Sunday morning inside an ATM booth of a private bank, located next to the Talha Spinning Factory in Mulgaon village. The accused has been identified as Md. Liton Mia, who was employed as a security guard at the said ATM booth.

Mohammad Abdul Barik, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreepur Thana, stated that the victim's father filed a rape case at the police station on Monday morning. Following the case filing, the accused, Liton Mia, has been absconding.

The victim's family, originally from Kalmakanda Upazila in Netrokona, currently resides in a rented house in Mulgaon village.

Police have launched an operation to swiftly apprehend the accused Liton Mia. The incident has caused a stir in the area.
