Student’s Body Recovered from Residential Hall in Lakshmipur, Protests and Vandalism Over Allegations of Murder

Tension has spread in the Ramganj upazila of Lakshmipur after the hanging body of a student was recovered from the residential hall of an educational institution. The victim’s family has claimed that this was not a suicide but a planned murder. Following the allegation, angry relatives and locals vandalized the institution.

On Tuesday afternoon, the body of a student named Mehdi Hasan (15) was recovered from the residential hall of Farid Ahmed Bhuiyan Academy in the upazila. He was the son of Ziauddin Zia from Raghavpur village of Ichhapur union in the same upazila.

Local sources said that after news of the body recovery spread, a large crowd gathered in front of the educational institution from the evening. At one point, enraged people vandalized the main gate and reception area of the institution. Incidents of brick throwing were also reported.

To control the situation, upazila administration and police quickly arrived at the scene. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) addressed the crowd through a loudspeaker, urging calm and assuring a fair investigation into the incident.

He stated that the body has been recovered and legal procedures have begun. The actual cause of death will be determined through investigation, and necessary actions will be taken accordingly based on the findings.

Police said that nothing can be confirmed about the cause of death until the autopsy report is received. However, the family’s allegations and all aspects of the incident are being investigated seriously.

Lakshmipur Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Hossain Mohammad Raihan Kazemi said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. A clear understanding of the cause of death will be possible after the final report. Additional police have been deployed at the site to maintain order.

Although the situation remained tense in the area until night, it was later brought under control through administrative intervention. Investigation activities are ongoing to uncover the truth behind the incident.
