Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami MP Professor Mujibur Rahman raised objections in Parliament regarding the tradition of bowing the head while entering the parliamentary chamber, saying it may conflict with Islamic beliefs.

During a point of order session, he said such practices were previously included in parliamentary procedural rules but were later revised after review.

He argued that head bowing as a form of respect may be controversial from a religious perspective and requested reconsideration of whether current practices align with parliamentary procedure.

Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed responded that he would review the rules and verify whether any amendments had been made earlier. He also said expressions of respect vary individually, and members may greet through salutation or bowing.

The issue has sparked discussion in political and social circles, with expectations that further clarity may emerge regarding parliamentary etiquette and procedural rules.
