A protest rally and procession were held at Shahbagh in the capital by an 11-party alliance protesting alleged push-in incidents, border killings, and torture.
Speaking as the chief guest on Monday (June 15), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mia Golam Porwar said that the people of Bangladesh are always conscious and united regarding sovereignty and independence.
He stated that Bangladesh is interested in maintaining peaceful coexistence and good relations with neighboring countries based on mutual respect, but the people will not accept any hegemonic or aggressive behavior.
He also raised concerns about border issues and called for relations based on fairness, equality, and mutual respect.
The event was presided over by 11-party alliance coordinator Dr. AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, senior assistant secretary general of Jamaat-e-Islami. Leaders from various parties including NCP, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, AB Party, Bangladesh Labour Party, JAGPA, Bangladesh Nezame Islam Party, and LDP also spoke.
Speakers called for proper resolution of alleged human rights violations at the border and emphasized maintaining respectful relations with neighboring countries.
