Tasnim Zara, independent candidate for Dhaka-9 constituency, began campaigning Thursday morning. She walked through Baganbari Bazaar, South Goran, Khilgaon Police Station area, interacting directly with residents and seeking votes.
Around 9:30 AM, she exchanged greetings with shopkeepers, buyers, and passersby. She introduced herself as an independent candidate with the football symbol.
Young people and women showed great enthusiasm, taking selfies and expressing hopes for her victory. Tasnim also distributed campaign leaflets encouraging a “Yes” vote and providing her candidacy details.
The campaign drew a strong response from local women, some waving from balconies to greet her. Tasnim responded warmly and asked for their blessings. She also accepted sweets from an elderly street vendor who wished her success.
Dhaka-9 comprises several wards of Dhaka South City Corporation, including Sugobag, Khilgaon, Mugda, and Manda police station areas. Tasnim’s team plans to campaign across these areas in stages.
Previously, Tasnim was Senior Joint Secretary-General of the National Citizens Party (NCP). She left the party due to disagreements over alliances and decided to contest as an independent candidate. Professionally
