Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the government’s Family Card and Farmer Card programs, which provide financial assistance to millions of families and farmers, will not negatively affect the budget or inflation.

He made the statement in response to a question during parliamentary proceedings on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister said around four crore families will be gradually brought under the Family Card program. However, he noted that it is not possible to include all at once, so priority will be given to vulnerable and poor families.

He said no new money will be printed for this initiative. Instead, existing social safety programs will be reviewed to eliminate duplication of beneficiaries.

He added that the money provided through Family Cards will flow directly into the rural economy, helping local production and small industries, thereby increasing employment.

Regarding Farmer Cards, he said the government is expanding support to strengthen agriculture and related sectors.

The government believes these programs will act as long-term economic investments and improve living standards.
