BNP held a meeting with retired military officers to discuss the future political scenario, party strategy, and national governance framework. On Tuesday night at the party chairman’s office in Gulshan, 101 retired officers from the army, navy, and air force participated.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman joined virtually from London. Towards the end of his speech, he personally expressed regret to Major General (Retd.) Syed Fatemi Ahmed Rumi for a past incident during a long political procession in old Dhaka. Tarique stated that despite multiple attempts, he had been unable to communicate earlier but now sincerely apologized.
Major General (Retd.) Rumi acknowledged the apology and expressed gratitude. The meeting was chaired by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and moderated by Major General (Retd.) Fazle Elahi Akbar.
Senior leaders, including Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, spoke. Retired officers shared views on political positioning, security challenges, and future national issues to aid the party’s strategic planning.
