Along with this, they have raised two more demands. These demands were announced at a press conference following a march and road blockade at Science Lab crossing on Wednesday.

The protesting students said that after more than a year of ongoing movement, the government formally unveiled the outline of Dhaka Central University last Monday. They described this as an important milestone towards establishing the new university.

Abdur Rahman, a student of Dhaka College, said the admission application process has already started, and preparations are underway to hold entrance exams in August. The University Grants Commission (UGC) is supervising this process. The government’s plan advisor, Professor Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud, is leading this initiative, and significant progress has been made in its implementation.

The three demands include:

  1. Enactment of the Dhaka Central University ordinance/law by August 26, and formation of a dedicated government committee to draft the ordinance.

  2. After the ordinance is enacted, form a full administrative structure including Vice-Chancellor and Proctor, and start official university activities from the 2025-26 academic year.

  3. Official transfer of the current students studying at the seven colleges under Dhaka Central University and issuance of their new identity.

The students have stated that their movement will continue until they receive clear assurances that their demands will be met.
