Sports Advisor Asif Nazrul thanks Pakistan for boycotting match against India over Bangladesh issue

Dr. Asif Nazrul, Interim Government Sports Advisor, expressed sincere thanks to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistani government for boycotting the match against India in protest of Bangladesh being excluded from the T20 World Cup.

On Thursday (February 5), he posted on his verified Facebook page, describing Pakistan’s stance as a strong expression of solidarity with Bangladesh. He called Pakistan’s decision timely and commendable, emphasizing that sports should remain free of political interference. He believes this move will send a strong message to international sports authorities.

According to Dr. Nazrul, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced in a cabinet meeting that political interference has no place in sports and that standing with Bangladesh is a moral duty. Analysts believe this decision may create a new balance in international cricket politics and put additional pressure on the ICC.
