Special Migration at DU Ends Today: Preparations Underway for New Admissions in Some Units

Despite the admission of first-year undergraduate students for the 2024-25 academic year at Dhaka University, some seats remain vacant in the Science Unit as well as in the Arts, Law, and Social Sciences Units. To fill these vacant seats, a special migration process is currently ongoing, which will end today (August 9).

Students whose auto-migration is activated can apply online to participate in this process by paying a fee of 20 taka. If students do not apply online, they will be considered to continue studying in their current subject.

If a student is allocated a new subject through the special migration, their previous allocation will be automatically canceled, and the vacant seat will be given to another student. Students who receive a new subject allocation must enroll in the new subject.

Meanwhile, in the Institute of Leather Engineering, due to more than 50% of seats remaining vacant, the minimum admission qualifications have been relaxed, setting the minimum required marks in Chemistry and Mathematics at 7. Students who were dissatisfied with their previous subject choice have been given a chance to apply for Leather Engineering, Footwear Engineering, and Leather Product Engineering.

After the special migration, new students will be allocated subjects based on merit for the remaining vacant seats. Students allocated under various quotas will be exempt from this process.

From now on, admission activities for new students in some units at Dhaka University will begin. This opportunity is considered important for many students in various ways.
