Following the announcement of the 13th National Parliamentary Election schedule, former Jatiya Party General Secretary Mosiur Rahman (Ranga) has returned to the party, sparking debate and criticism in Rangpur. While some central and city leaders welcomed him, a significant portion of the party in Ganga Char expressed opposition.

Local leaders claimed Ranga is not local and that previous nominations caused discontent. Some student movement leaders also opposed his active political return.

Mosiur Rahman stated that he has come back to the party because of his longstanding commitment to its politics. He previously served as MP from Rangpur-1, a State Minister, and Jatiya Party Secretary. He had been removed from all party positions in 2020 due to internal conflicts.

Despite his official return at a recent central committee meeting, local leaders are still working with another candidate, creating challenges for the party ahead of the elections.
