RAB impersonator robs 80 lakh taka in Narayanganj; one arrested with money

RAB-11 has arrested a person involved in robbing nearly 80 lakh taka from a gold trader in Narayanganj while impersonating RAB personnel. Cash, mobile phones, and gold jewelry were recovered from the suspect during the arrest.

On Monday afternoon, Company Commander of RAB-11, Md. Naeem Ul Haque, based in Adamjee, Siddhirganj, confirmed the incident. The arrested individual is Md. Bellal Khan Tuhin (38). He was apprehended from Nolkhola area of Doshmina, Patuakhali at night on Monday.

According to RAB, on January 7, around 3 PM, two traders, Mozammel Haque Humayun (52) and Fazle Rabbi (28), were returning to Narayanganj after selling gold in Dhaka when a white microbus blocked their vehicle near Matuail area of Jatrabari Thana on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.

Several individuals claiming to be RAB personnel forced the traders out of the bus, assaulted them, and took the cash bag. The assailants left the traders tied up near Langalbanda Bridge in Bandar and fled.

During the arrest, Bellal was found with 2,37,910 Taka in cash, an iPhone 16, two other mobile phones, and a gold ring. He admitted involvement in the robbery during preliminary questioning. RAB continues efforts to identify and arrest other accomplices.
