Public execution carried out in Iran on charges of murder after rape.

A man has been publicly executed in Bukan, a northwestern city of Iran, on charges of murdering a young woman after raping her. According to the AFP news agency, the sentence was carried out on Saturday at the request of the victim's family.

The victim's family, who are residents of Bukan, were actively involved in the legal process. The accused was sentenced to death in March, and the family’s request for a public hanging was granted, leading to the execution on Saturday in front of a crowd.

Iran's Provincial Chief Justice, Nasser Atabati, stated that the case was given special importance as it was in the public eye. He added that such incidents have an adverse effect on the community.
