He made these remarks on Saturday (24 January) during an election rally at SM Pilot High School field in Palashbari, Gaibandha, where he was the chief guest.
Dr. Shafiqul Rahman said that if Jamaat-e-Islami assumes responsibility for governing the state, the new university to be established in North Bengal will prioritize Gaibandha district. He also highlighted plans to transform North Bengal into an agriculture-based economic zone, establish EPZs, rejuvenate dead rivers, and improve people’s living standards through river-centric development.
The Jamaat Amir further said that the contributions of North Bengal’s outstanding sons, such as Abu Saeed, will never be forgotten by the nation. Jamaat is working to build a just Bangladesh inspired by their vision. He said that to free the country from long-standing corruption, misrule, abductions, murders, and extortion, the public must vote in favor of change.
He urged the public that to move past past failures, it is essential to support justice and good governance through a “Yes” vote.
The rally was presided over by 10-party alliance parliamentary candidate Principal Nazrul Islam Lebu from Gaibandha-3, and special guests included Jamaat-e-Islami assistant secretary Maulana Abdul Halim, JAGPA President Rashed Pradhan, Islami Chhatra Shibir Secretary General Sigbatullah, and parliamentary candidates from various constituencies in Gaibandha.
