One More Arrest in Khagrachhari Gang-Rape Case; Total Arrests Rise to 5

Police have arrested another accused, Md. Sohel (26), from Noakhali in connection with the gang-rape incident that took place in Vibonchhara, under Khagrachhari Sadar upazila. On Sunday night (October 26), Khagrachhari district police arrested him from Companiganj in Noakhali. With this, the total number of arrests in the case has now reached five.

Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdul Baten Mridha said that Sohel was tracked and arrested using mobile phone surveillance. He is currently in police custody at Sadar Police Station and will be produced before the court today.

Earlier, on July 17, a case was filed at Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station over the gang-rape of a Tripura teenage girl. Police had arrested four accused shortly after the incident, but one suspect had been on the run. Law enforcement had continued their operations to apprehend him, and the latest arrest of Sohel marks further progress in the case.

Police also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining fugitive accused. They said more details about the case will be released soon.
