Police have arrested Faisal Talukdar in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur, who has been accused in multiple cases including murder, rape, theft, mugging, robbery, and extortion. Authorities say there are a total of 17 cases filed against him in various police stations.
This information was confirmed in a press release issued by Kalkini Police Station on Thursday (May 7) morning.
Police said arrested Faisal Talukdar is a resident of Kalai Sardar’s Char village under East Enayetnagar Union of Kalkini upazila. He and his associates had long been allegedly running criminal activities by exerting influence in several unions of the upazila.
Local sources claim that he has long been involved in extortion, mugging, theft, and robbery. Recently, after allegations of rape of a migrant worker’s wife surfaced, widespread discussion began in the area. The victim’s family reportedly left the area due to security concerns.
Additionally, he was also suspected in the recent recovery of a dead body of a tea shop worker, although police have not officially confirmed anyone responsible and investigations are ongoing.
Madaripur Superintendent of Police Md. Habibur Rahman said Faisal Talukdar had been evading arrest using various tactics. Investigations into his cases are ongoing. Efforts are also underway to identify and arrest his associates.
