Brazilian football star Neymar Jr. has extended his relationship with his childhood club Santos. Through a contract renewal, he will stay with Santos until at least 2026. At 33, the forward has chosen to pursue his dreams in a familiar environment.

After signing the new contract, Neymar said 2025 was one of the toughest periods of his life, dealing with injuries, off-field challenges, and immense pressure. However, the support and love from Santos fans helped him remain mentally strong. He stated, “Santos is my true home. Here I feel safe, comfortable, and happy. This is where I want to achieve the rest of my dreams.”

In January, Neymar returned to Santos after his European football chapter. After recovering from a long-term injury, he faced the challenge of helping the club avoid relegation. In the final part of the season, he performed consistently and played a key role in keeping Santos in the top league.

Despite his injury not fully healing—he had surgery on 22 December for an old knee issue—Neymar has not deviated from his goals. His primary objective is to fully recover and play for Brazil in the upcoming World Cup. National team coach Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that Neymar will have opportunities if fit.

Since early 2025, Neymar has played 34 matches for Santos, scoring 11 goals. The new season will begin with the Sao Paulo State Championship on 10 January, followed by the Brazilian Serie A against Chapecoense on 28 January. Staying at his childhood club, Neymar hopes to regain his top form, aiming to return to the national team.
