The start of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), the country’s most important domestic cricket tournament, remains uncertain, leaving hundreds of players under financial pressure. Although the league usually begins around this time each year, this year it has been delayed.

To avoid further delay, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) decided to hold a meeting with participating clubs and stakeholders to discuss the league’s schedule.

The meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday at the CCDM office located in Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur. Topics include the potential schedule, organization, and other important issues.

BCB stated that a competitive and well-organized league is planned with full participation. For many players not in the national team, the DPL is their main source of income.

Earlier, on April 1, the Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh formally requested the BCB president and CCDM chairman to bring cricket back to the field. Following this, the meeting was scheduled.

However, uncertainty remains regarding whether all clubs, particularly those considered rebellious, will participate. The league’s start now depends on the outcome of this meeting.
