Brazil’s star forward Neymar has finally earned a place in the national team for the World Cup after recovering from a long-term injury and fitness concerns. Although uncertainty had been growing about his inclusion, he has been named in the 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup.

After suffering a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee in October 2023, Neymar was out of action for a long time. Since then, there were doubts about whether he would regain full fitness. Many former players and analysts believed he might not be included in the World Cup squad.

However, Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti included the experienced forward in the squad announced on Monday. The Italian coach, who took charge of Brazil last May, initially did not call Neymar up. But he ultimately trusted his experience.

Vinícius Júnior and Raphinha, who have been key attacking players recently, have also been included in the squad.

However, Brazil will miss several key players due to injuries. In particular, the absence of forward Rodrygo and young talent Estêvão is a concern for the team.

Recently, Carlo Ancelotti extended his contract with the Brazilian Football Confederation until the 2030 World Cup. However, his tenure has not been easy so far due to injury problems, which have prevented him from forming a full-strength squad.

Goalkeepers: Alisson, Ederson, Weverton
Defenders: Alex Sandro, Danilo, Léo Pereira, Bremer, Ibañez, Wesley, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhães, Douglas Santos
Midfielders: Bruno Guimarães, Casemiro, Danilo Santos, Fabinho, Lucas Paquetá
Forwards: Endrick, Gabriel Martinelli, Igor Thiago, Matheus Cunha, Raphinha, Vinícius Júnior, Luiz Henrique, Neymar, Ryan
