A new low-pressure system is expected to form over north Odisha and the adjoining Bay of Bengal. The Bangladesh Weather Observation Team (BWOWT) has stated that it may strengthen and develop into a low-pressure area between September 25 and 27.
BWOWT notes that the current conditions in the Bay of Bengal are favorable for the formation of a low-pressure system. Sea surface temperatures are between 29–30°C, which supports cyclonic development. However, due to moderate to high vertical wind shear, it may not intensify into a cyclone and could remain within the limits of a seasonal low-pressure system.
The low-pressure area is likely to cross the coasts of southern Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh by September 27. Wind speeds could reach 45–55 km/h, with gusts up to 65–75 km/h. Additionally, from September 25 to 28, the northern and central Bay of Bengal may experience rough conditions.
BWOWT also reported that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Andhra Pradesh, southern Odisha, and interior regions of south-central India due to this system. While there is no direct impact expected in Bangladesh, scattered to moderate rainfall may occur in the southern regions of the country.
