Mysterious death of female detainee at Homna Police Station

The deceased, Hamida, also known as Bobita (32), was the wife of Khalil Mia from Ghaniachar village of Homna. Local sources said that on Wednesday morning, due to a family dispute, Hamida stabbed her stepchild Saymon (11), seriously injuring him. The child was immediately taken to Homna Upazila Health Complex and later to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

After the incident, locals detained Hamida and tied her to a tree. Police rescued her from the scene on Wednesday evening and brought her to the station. During preparations to present her in court on Thursday, she was kept in a room with two other women detainees. Authorities suspect she committed suicide by hanging herself with her scarf.

A senior executive magistrate has been informed, and necessary legal procedures, including autopsy, will follow. A separate investigation may be conducted to review the security and supervision at the station.
