Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis MP Said Uddin Ahmad Hanzala has demanded strict legislation in parliament against insults to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), calling for the death penalty for such offenses.
Speaking during the debate on the motion of thanks on the President’s speech in parliament on Wednesday, he made this demand.
He said that incidents have been occurring repeatedly in the country where some individuals make derogatory remarks about the Prophet (PBUH), and in response, people are forced to take to the streets, sometimes leading to violence.
He stated that disrespect towards the Prophet (PBUH) is unacceptable under any circumstances and emphasized the need for the highest level of punishment. He urged the parliament to enact such a law.
He also suggested that those who do not recognize the Prophet (PBUH) as the final prophet should be legally declared non-Muslims.
The MP said that such demands have been raised since independence, but the issue has not yet been clearly addressed within a legal framework. He urged the government to establish a clear law on this matter and set a precedent.
