Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus will hold a meeting today, Tuesday, at 5:00 PM with representatives of seven political parties and Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh. The meeting will take place at the state guesthouse, Jamuna.
According to the press wing of the Chief Advisor, the political parties participating in the discussion are AB Party, Nagorik Oikko, Ganasanghati Andolon, Gonodhikar Parishad, LDP, Islami Andolon Bangladesh, and Jatiyo Ganofront. Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has also been invited to the meeting.
Senior leaders of the participating parties and organizations will be present. The discussion will focus on the upcoming national parliamentary elections and the current political situation.
Earlier, last Sunday, the Chief Advisor had met with BNP, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and Jatiyo Nagorik Party. That meeting did not resolve differences regarding election matters. However, Yunus clarified that the national election will be held in the first half of February, and there is no alternative to holding the election.
According to analysts, today’s meeting will give smaller and medium-sized political parties a chance to voice their opinions, and the Chief Advisor will attempt to coordinate differing views regarding the election.
