On Saturday (28 November) at a press conference at the Narayanganj PBI office, District Police Superintendent Mostafa Kamal Rashed confirmed the information.
According to PBI, Takbir was preparing for a job abroad. He left his home on 25 November evening and did not return. His family tried to contact him by phone but failed. The next day, local residents spotted his body in a room of an abandoned building and informed the police. The police recovered the body, and Takbir’s father filed a case against unknown persons.
After being assigned to investigate, the PBI team arrested the first suspect, Harun (34), from Langolband, Sonargaon, on 27 November. Based on his information, the second suspect, Rafiqul (38), was detained from WAPDA Colony in Siddhirganj. Takbir’s mobile phone was also recovered from the ceiling of Rafiqul’s house.
PBI stated that the suspects had a long-standing dispute with Takbir over drugs and online gambling. On the day of the incident, he was lured to the abandoned building, struck on the head with a brick, and killed. The suspects then demanded a ransom of B40,000 from Takbir’s father using an old SIM card to divert the case.
On 28 November, the two suspects were presented in court and gave confessional statements under Section 164.
PBI Police Superintendent said, “We have confirmed the motive, weapon, and method of the crime. However, a full report will be submitted after verifying all aspects of the case.”
