Khaleda Zia in ICU: Decision to Take Abroad Depends on Medical Board

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is currently able to receive medical treatment, according to her personal physician, A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain. He stated that a specialist doctor from the UK will visit today for her treatment.

Speaking in a briefing outside Evercare Hospital at 12:30 PM on Tuesday, Zahid Hossain said Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at the hospital for the past 10 days. Due to a sudden deterioration in her condition, she was transferred to the ICU for monitoring and treatment.

Zahid Hossain explained, “Khaleda Zia is able to receive and maintain treatment. Any decision to take her abroad will depend on the medical board and her health condition.” He added that the BNP is fully prepared for her transfer abroad if approved by the medical board. The specialist from the UK will examine her, and if she is deemed transferable and the board recommends it, she will be taken abroad for proper treatment.

He urged the public not to believe rumors or unnecessary fears about her health and to exercise patience. Zahid Hossain also said BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has appealed to everyone to remain patient.
