In Jashore’s Chaugachha, a case has been filed in court against a former sub-registrar, a union council chairman, and four others over allegations of land fraud.

On Tuesday (October 7), Sharmin Sultana, daughter of Shahadat Hossain, filed the case on behalf of Ahmad Ali of Niribilipara in Chaugachha. The Senior Judicial Magistrate, Zubaida Rawshan Ara, accepted the case and directed the PBI to submit an investigation report.

The plaintiff’s lawyer, Sheikh Taj Hossain Taju, confirmed the filing of the case.

The accused are: former Chaugachha sub-registrar Rafiqul Islam, Sarupdah Union chairman Nurul Qadar, document writer Anwar Hossain, Mofazzel Hossain from Andarkota village, his wife Fatema Khatun, and their son Inamul Hossain.

According to the charge sheet, after Shahadat Hossain passed away in 2006, his wife and two children became the legal heirs. However, Mofazzel Hossain and his family were allegedly conspiring for a long time to seize Ahmad Ali’s ancestral land.

In 2013, they allegedly created a fake birth certificate under the name of Shahadat Hossain’s son, Mahamudur Rahman Mukta, and used it to register a forged deed at the Chaugachha sub-registry office on March 31, 2015.

On August 7 this year, a local reconciliation meeting was called regarding the matter, during which the accused allegedly threatened to seize the land using the forged deed, creating fear of violence.

When the complaint was submitted to the police and not accepted, the aggrieved party turned to the court for justice.
