PNN News Desk | Rajshahi:

The Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed “United Student Alliance” formally expressed their protest today against the postponement of the Rajshahi University Central Student Union (RAKSU), Hall Union, and Senate student representative elections. They alleged that the university administration delayed the elections in favor of a specific group, and the decision was further postponed according to the party-line decision of the teachers’ forum.

At a press conference held Monday night at the RAKSU Treasurer’s office, VP candidate of the United Student Alliance, Mostakur Rahman (Zahid), stated that the administration prioritized the interests of a particular group over the labor and money of the students during the election. He alleged that the quota issue was misused to create chaos on campus and that teachers and staff were harassed.

Secretary Mujahid Faisal added that although the Election Commission is firm about holding the election on September 25, if the commission does not change its decision, they will announce their next course of action.

After the press conference, Chhatra Shibir organized a protest march starting from the RAKSU Treasurer’s office, which circled the university’s residential halls and concluded with a gathering at Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Square.
