In modern football, few players possess the innate talent of Neymar. Known for magical ball control, quick dribbling, and creativity, he was once considered the future of world football. However, over time, injuries, controversies, and unfulfilled potential have cast a long shadow over his career, leading many to describe him as a prince who never became a king.

After a strong start at Santos, Neymar moved to Europe in 2013 with high hopes. He joined Barcelona in a record transfer, winning numerous trophies, including the Champions League, in four seasons. The ‘MSN’ attack trio formed with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez is still remembered as one of football’s most formidable attacking lines.

He later transferred to PSG for a world-record fee, but injuries continued to follow him. Eventually, he left Europe for Saudi club Al-Hilal. There, too, injuries prevented consistent performance. Finally, he returned emotionally to Santos, where he made significant contributions, even delaying surgeries to help the club avoid relegation.

Neymar’s injury history has been long and complicated. The biggest setback came in the 2023–24 season when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament, keeping him out of action for nearly a year. Every comeback required patience and mental strength.

Finally, on December 23, 2025, Neymar underwent necessary surgery. Santos announced that the arthroscopic procedure was successful under expert supervision, and rehabilitation is progressing cautiously.

Ahead of the 2026 World Cup, Neymar is preparing himself anew. However, whether he can secure a place in the national team fully fit remains uncertain. Victory in this final battle against injury may allow Neymar to prove that the prince’s story is not over yet.
