PNN News Desk: Dhaka
Qatar will provide an air ambulance for the urgent treatment of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. Diplomatic sources informed the party on Thursday.
Earlier, on November 29, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir sent a letter to Qatar’s ambassador Seraiya Ali Al Kahtani requesting the air ambulance.
Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on November 23 after suffering from breathing difficulties. Tests revealed a lung infection. Her condition worsened early Sunday morning, and she was transferred from SDU to ICU.
Specialist doctors from the UK, led by Richard Biel, arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday to assist her treatment. A four-member Chinese medical team also joined, along with other specialists under the supervision of an international medical board.
BNP leaders expressed hope that Qatar’s support and the presence of international doctors will play a crucial role in her recovery.
