On Sunday (September 22), India and Pakistan faced off in the Asia Cup Super Four. India defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets on the field, but Pakistan’s pacer Haris Rauf caused a stir on social media off the field.

During India’s innings, Haris Rauf was fielding at the boundary. In response to taunting from Indian supporters, he made a “6-0” gesture with his fingers and mimicked an airplane flying and then crashing. This gesture referenced Pakistan Air Force’s “Operation Bunyan-Ul-Marsus” in May, during which Pakistan claimed to have shot down six Indian fighter jets, including some Rafale aircraft.

The video of Haris Rauf’s gesture quickly went viral. Pakistani fans viewed it as a symbol of courage and pride, while Indian fans expressed strong outrage.

After the match, much of the discussion focused on the absence of a handshake between the two teams. Neither side shook hands, raising social criticism regarding the players’ sportsmanship and attitude.
