After the group stage of the Asia Cup, the Super Four stage begins today. However, India’s legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar does not consider the Super Four as crucial. He has therefore advised resting India’s key bowler Jasprit Bumrah to keep him fresh for the final.

Gavaskar believes that even though India’s next match is against Oman, Bumrah should not play. He also suggests keeping him rested during the Super Four clash against Pakistan. Speaking to Sony Sports Network, he said, “It’s better not to play him in tomorrow’s match so he’s fully prepared for the final.”

He added that resting Bumrah might require including a bench player in the team, but it is necessary for achieving India’s long-term goals.

Gavaskar also recommended some changes in the batting order. He suggested, “India should bat first. Keep the opening pair unchanged. Perhaps the captain, Suryakumar Yadav, could move down to number three. This way, Tilak Varma will get more time at the crease and Sanju Samson will also get an opportunity.”

According to Gavaskar, this plan will help batsmen prepare not only for the match against Pakistan but also for the Super Four matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. However, it is less applicable for bowlers.
