The Panama national football team is set to face a tough challenge in the upcoming World Cup, being placed in the same group with strong teams England national football team and Croatia national football team. However, star striker Ismael Diaz remains confident despite the strong opponents.
In a recent interview with FIFA, Diaz shared his early football journey. He said he grew up playing football barefoot on the streets with his brothers and friends. Injuries and pain did not stop his dream.
Diaz said those childhood struggles made him mentally stronger. According to him, growing up in difficult conditions helped him prove himself in international football today.
He made his club football debut at just 15 years old. At 17, he scored in his first match for the national team and gained attention. He is now one of the key players of the Panama team.
Although many are worried about the tough World Cup group, Diaz sees it positively. He said playing against the best teams is necessary at the World Cup stage. Panama will not just participate but compete.
Panama participated in the 2018 World Cup but did not win a single match. Diaz now dreams of ending that disappointment and achieving the country’s first World Cup win.
He believes that if the team performs at its best, they can challenge even stronger teams. His confidence reflects the ambition of a new Panama team.
