PNN News Desk | Natore:
A remarkable and inspiring incident has occurred in Lalpur, Natore—father Abdul Hannan and his daughter Halima Khatun both took the HSC examination together and passed successfully. The most astonishing fact is that father Hannan outperformed his daughter in the results. In this year’s HSC exams, he achieved a GPA of 4.33, while his daughter Halima Khatun scored a GPA of 3.71.
Since the results were published on Thursday (October 16), news of their achievement has spread rapidly in the area. Locals are praising their dedication, and their story has become a new example of perseverance in the community.
Abdul Hannan’s life has been very ordinary. He is the younger son of the late Lal Mia from Narayanpur village under Gopalpur Municipality. He failed the SSC examination in 1998 from North Bengal Sugar Mills High School. Later, he focused on family life and, after 25 years, in 2023, he appeared for the SSC examination again from Ruigari High School and passed. During this time, he secretly took the exam alongside his daughter. When the news became public, locals were astonished and praised his achievement.
In the 2025 HSC examination, he appeared from Bagha Kakramari College, while his daughter participated from Gopalpur Degree College. Both passed successfully, but the father’s GPA was higher than his daughter’s.
Halima Khatun said, “Even though our family faced poverty, my father’s interest and determination in studying have inspired me. We both aim to complete our studies up to a master’s degree together.”
Abdul Hannan said, “I couldn’t complete my education in childhood due to poverty. But when my daughter started school, I regained my interest in studying. Age is not a barrier; if there is determination, learning is possible—this is what I have proven.”
Lalpur UNO Mehedi Hasan said, “This is truly an inspirational story. A father and daughter passing HSC together will create a positive attitude toward education in our society and encourage others to pursue learning.”
Through this achievement, both father and daughter have proven that education has no age limit, and with determination, anything is possible.
