On Sunday, the Ministry of Education’s Secondary and Higher Education Division publicly released the draft. Feedback on the draft is requested by 5 PM on February 7 via email.
The ministry’s notice stated that the new law emphasizes literacy eradication, expansion of free and compulsory primary education, and ensuring access to quality education for all. The law also aims to make the education system equitable, universal, and lifelong.
The draft highlights protecting the rights and welfare of students and teachers. It also aims to modernize the education system and make existing education-related laws more coordinated and effective.
The new law is intended to fill gaps in current legislation and reflect practical, reality-based education policies. Feedback can be sent to opinion_edu_act@moedu.gov.bd, which will be reviewed before finalizing the law.
