State Minister for Public Administration Md. Abdul Bari has said that an investigation is underway regarding allegations of irregularities and politicization in BCS cadre recruitment. He stated that the Anti-Corruption Commission and other relevant law enforcement agencies are investigating the matter, and action will be taken according to law after receiving the investigation report.
He made this statement during the question-and-answer session in the National Parliament on Thursday (16 April). The session was presided over by Deputy Speaker Kaiser Kamal.
In response to a written question from Member of Parliament Md. Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, the State Minister said that several disciplinary actions had been taken in the administration cadre in the past. These included compulsory retirement of some officials, dismissal of some employees, and making many officials officers on special duty (OSD).
He said that any allegation of irregularity or favoritism in the BCS recruitment process is being taken seriously. After the investigation by relevant agencies, further steps will be taken based on their recommendations.
He also mentioned a coordinated plan for filling government vacancies. He said that 6-month, 1-year, and 5-year work plans have been prepared. Under these plans, thousands of vacant posts will be filled in phases.
According to him, within the next six months, about 2,879 posts in the Ministry of Public Administration will be filled, 4,459 posts within one year, and another 3,110 posts within five years.
As a government target, he mentioned ensuring recruitment for around 500,000 vacant posts across the country. He added that various ministries and departments have been instructed to submit updated information about their vacancies.
