The Rajshahi University administration has taken initiatives to expand digital facilities on campus. As part of this effort, the process of launching free and high-speed Wi-Fi services in various important locations of the university has begun. In the first phase, high-speed (5G) Wi-Fi service has been introduced.
This information was shared in a press release sent by the university’s Public Relations Office on Wednesday (April 15).
According to the release, the service has initially been launched in the souvenir shop area of the Transport Market and at the central cafeteria. Gradually, this facility will be expanded to other important areas of the campus.
The network, named ‘RU WiFi 5G’, can be used on 5G-supported smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Students, teachers, officers, and staff of the university will be able to access the service 24/7 using their respective internet IDs and passwords.
The university administration stated that this initiative has been taken to increase the use of information technology and further improve the environment for education and research.
It is noteworthy that recently the University Grants Commission Bangladesh directed all public and private universities in the country to ensure fast and free Wi-Fi services. Initially, there are plans to introduce this facility within a specified time in libraries, common rooms, and cafeterias, which will later be expanded to residential halls and other areas.
