Social media has been abuzz with discussions and criticism following recent comments by Nahid Islam, former information advisor to the caretaker government and convener of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP). In an interview, he stated, “Many of the advisors have aligned themselves with various political parties and are thinking about their own safe exit.”

In an interview with Ekattor TV last Saturday, Nahid Islam alleged that many advisors of the post-uprising government deviated from the core spirit of the people’s movement and worked for personal interests. He said, “We should have strengthened the student leadership. But we trusted civil society and political leaders, and in that regard, we were deceived.”

His remarks have sparked diverse reactions on Facebook and other social media platforms. A post on Ekattor TV’s verified Facebook page regarding the matter received over 12,000 reactions and around 1,500 comments within a single day. While some described his statement as a courageous opinion, others criticized it as irresponsible.

Nahid Islam further stated in the interview that many advisors have secured their own interests or betrayed the people’s uprising. He hinted, “When the time comes, we will also reveal their names.”

For context, Nahid Islam was a coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement during the July 2024 uprising. He later served as the information advisor to the caretaker government. However, in February of this year, he resigned from that position and assumed the role of convener of the NCP.
