A 17-year-old college student, Sahida Akter, was killed when a passenger bus of Imad Transport ran over her in the Suadi Bus Stand area of Bhanga Upazila, Faridpur. The tragic accident occurred on Saturday (29 November) morning on the Dhaka–Khulna highway.

Sahida Akter, daughter of Shahadat Sheikh from Suadi village, was a second-year student at Bhanga Women’s Degree College.

Following the accident, local residents protested by blocking the highway at 9:00 am, causing a traffic jam of nearly 20 kilometers, disrupting road communication between Dhaka and southern districts for hours. Angry residents damaged five long-distance buses.

Police and army personnel arrived at the scene to control the situation, and traffic gradually returned to normal.

SI Rashel of Bhanga Highway Police Station said Sahida was killed instantly by the bus. Her body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. Witnesses stated she was standing by the roadside when the accident occurred. The villagers demanded the urgent installation of speed breakers to prevent future accidents.
