At the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus will depart for Kuala Lumpur this Monday afternoon on a three-day bilateral visit. A formal meeting between the two heads of government is scheduled for Tuesday, during which five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and three exchange notes are expected to be signed.

The visit will emphasize cooperation in areas including expatriate welfare and foreign employment, investment expansion, halal economy, education, and energy. Key discussion points will include sending more skilled manpower from Bangladesh, increasing opportunities for professionals, and ensuring the welfare of expatriate workers.

According to the official schedule, the Chief Adviser will receive a guard of honor on August 11. On August 12, the agenda includes the formal bilateral meeting in Putrajaya, delegation-level discussions, a press conference, and a state luncheon. On the same day, he will also attend a business forum and engage with the Bangladeshi expatriate community.

On the final day of the visit, August 13, the Chief Adviser will meet with the Sultan of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir. He will also be awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, where he will deliver a speech to students.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during the visit, Bangladesh’s proposal to become an ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner and to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) will be strongly advocated. Additionally, a call will be made for ASEAN members, including Malaysia, to play a more active role in the repatriation of the Rohingya.

The ministry hopes this visit will further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries and open new avenues for bilateral cooperation.
